Maximum PC & Comic-Con

My buddies over at MaxPC scoured the floor at Comic-Con, snapping all kinds of pictures. And wouldn’t you know it, one of them was of me.

Comic-Con was an absolute blast. Can’t wait for next year.

San Diego Signing Schedule

Top Cow Panel @ SDCC

All of the programming for San Diego Comic-con has been announced, and I will be taking part in the Top Cow panel. It’ll be held on Saturday, July 26 from 3 to 4 p.m. Room 2, Hall H. Be sure to swing by and say hello. Here’s the full announcement for the panel:

“3:00-4:00 Top Cow: Herd It Through the Bo-Vine— Members of the Top Cow Editorial staff and special guests will be on hand to discuss Pilot Season 2008, Broken Trinity, the Witchblade movie, The Darkness, and other exciting, upcoming projects. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Arrested Development was, and always will be, the funniest show on TV. Ever. A close second, though, is the wildly offensive (and hilarious) It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The new season starts in September, but in the meantime you can watch all of the previous episodes online (for free) via Hulu. They are well worth your time.

Impaler Moves to Top Cow

Top Cow announced at WW Chicago yesterday that they will be relaunching Impaler later this year. The trade will be released in October and the new series starts in December. I believe that Top Cow will have a special Impaler preview flipbook at SDCC, and I’ll be at the show to help them promote the relaunch.

Fresh Wine for the Horses

Although they were lumped in with the British shoe-gazing music scene, Catherine Wheel really delivered a sound that was uniquely their own. From the hard-rocking Happy Days to the sublime Adam and Eve, CW was truly one of the greatest bands that no one listened to.

Although they broke up after the release of Wishville, singer Rob Dickinson went solo and released Fresh Wine for the Horses through Sanctuary Records a few years ago. Sadly, Sanctuary Records went out of business so the album never got the support it deserved. This week, though, Fresh Wine is being re-released through Fontana. It includes the original album along with a new song called “The End of the World”, which is an amazingly beautiful song. The second CD includes newly recorded acoustic versions of a few CW classics like “Black Metallic” and “Crank”.

I highly recommended that you swing by Dickinson’s MySpace page and give a listen to the sample songs he has posted–if you dig them, follow the link and buy the album.

Brett Ratner’s The Road

Brett Ratner made the Rush Hour movies and the last X-men movie (which was pretty terrible). McSweeney’s contemplates what Ratner’s version of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road might look like.
