I’m a sucker for the Invasion of the Body Snatcher movies, which is why I was pretty excited excited to see the new version starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig. Great actors + great source material = great movie, right?

If only.

There were some really good scenes, like when the man from the “census bureau” is trying to get into Kidman’s house, a scene on the subway and the final chase sequence, but too much of the movie was a mess. (One thing that really bugged me was this weird “future-tense” editing technique that showed the future while the characters were talking about what they were going to do. Kidman and Craig would be talking about escaping, and then intercut into the conversation were scenes of them escaping. Why not just cut out the fat and get to the escape?)

Ultimately, though, Invasion failed because I didn’t care about any of the characters and the ending was cheap and lazy, especially when compared to the ending of the classic 1978 version.

GPG announced two games at E3 a couple weeks back, one of which is Forged Alliance, the next chapter in Supreme Commander. It’s a standalone title and will be released in November. You can view the trailer over at Game Trailers.
