Emerald City Comicon
The Emerald City Comicon will be held here in Seattle next week, and I’ll be there the entire time. Image has a booth (#502), and I will have a section of it where I can sell copies of Impaler, sign books and generally harass folks that are passing by. If you make it to the show, please be sure to stop and say hello.
No commentsImpaler in Wizard
Wizard recently ran a feature called “The 40 Things You Need to Know About Indy Comics”, and Impaler was listed at # 5. They’ve posted the full story on the Wizard site, so head over and see what they have to say.
No commentsRead Impaler # 1 @ Newsarama
My good friends over at Newsarama have posted the entire first issue of Impaler. If you haven’t read Impaler, this is your chance.
Just head to: Newsarama.
No commentsUltron!
I finally got around to reading The Mighty Avengers # 1. I’m not really a fan of the return of the thought balloon (or at least how Bendis uses it), but all of that was obscured by the fact that Ultron is back!
I absolutely love Ultron–easily my favorite villain of all time. I collect all of the Ultron covers, and one of my most valued comics is a CGC 9.6 of Avengers # 67. I’ll never sell it.
Run amok, Ultron, run amok!

RIP Arnold Drake
Arnold Drake, noted for creating Deadman and Doom Patrol at DC Comics, has passed away. I absolutely love Deadman and always wanted to have Drake sign my hardcover collection. (Which is already signed by Neal Adams.) Drake was also a tireless fighter for creator rights.
It bums me out that we’re losing so many industry legends. Two of my all-time favorite convention moments include having dinner with Mart Nodell (and his wife Carrie) at a show in Kansas City and talking about Silver Age Hawkman with Murphy Anderson.
Next time you’re at a show, take the time to chat with these guys. They have amazing stories to tell, and the comic book industry wouldn’t be what it is without them.
No commentsImpaler Update
The pencils and inks for Impaler # 4 are done, and we’re in the final stages of coloring. It should be off to Image in the next week or so. We’re also cranking away on # 5.
